Somewhere around the early 2000’s I was working for the Tennessean Newspaper as the Circulation Sales and Marketing Manager. My peer in the Marketing department proposed an idea to me as she knew of my music activities. Her job was to support the advertising department with promotional sales tools. Her idea was to include a jazz instrumental CD along with the ad sales packages the ad reps were handing out to potential ad customers. She enlisted me to record songs – jazz instrumentals – Christmas standards all in the public domain (public domain songs wouldn’t require tricky licensing). Of course I jumped at the extracurricular opportunity. The result is a timeless group of nine songs recorded in my basement studio with two talented buddies – Gage on bass and Steve Emahiser on drums. I’m still proud of these tracks all these years later. I’ve dug them up and uploaded to all digital platforms and hope they can be enjoyed around the holidays by many.
